Skype is an online
VOIP (voice over IP) online telephony service. We have used it to rehearse online with as many as 10 musicians at once.

imeem is not unlike myspace, but has a cleaner interface with less ads and hype, although that is changing

SendSpace is a free online file sharing. Registered users can create folders to organize their uploaded files. They can email the link to others and share files up to 2 Gigabytes.

Musicians worldwide are using this to send high fidelity files back and
forth.

Basecamp
 is a flexible online project communication tool.

Musicians can:

  • Post song lyrics and ideas
  • Discuss demos and mixes
  • Manage tracking schedules in the studio
