Jeremy Cooperstock is at

Jeremy Cooperstock is at McGill U. in Montreal. Tintinnabulate used his DV quality video for two networked concerts: ICAD Montreal June 2007 with RPI Troy, Chris Chafe- Seoul, SoundWire - Palo Alto. The DV was used between RPI and  Montreal. A DV is coming this month on Deep Listening Digital Download site. The video was very clear. We used it again at Siggraph in August 2007 in a threeway network with CIRCA-San Diego, RPI-Troy and SoundWire-Palo Alto.  Since then Cooperstock has funding issues and we have not been using his software. The software ran on JackTrip.

Hey Scott

Checking the site for the first time. Looks good.
Do you know what the latest is on Cooperstock Video Conferencing.
How stable is it? Can it operate in more than two locations?
Thanks!
Mark

Cooperstock

Some expert I turn out to be ;-) While I know Bill Buxton and Sidney Fels, I have not worked with Jeremy Cooperstock or his video system. I am seeing references to some work in 1997 on citeseeker:
http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=260774&coll=portal&dl=ACM
and some articles about dog and pony shows, but I have been really watching this field and hadn't heard of his work before now.

I have always thought the Eckart Wintzen's Ex'ovision group in Amsterdam had the right idea, "The Eye Catcher is a unique videophone, and the first to combine the crucial element of real-time eye contact with an almost lifesize broadcast-quality picture."

It is pretty amazing to be able to look directly in each others eyes while communicating.

Hey Pauline

Yes we are getting started here. Hoping to hear from many more!
